We empower young Zanzibaris a hands-on training, a way of giving back to the local community.
The combination of the Boutique Resort with the Training Centre contributes for 100% to the funding of our students’ education. This results in an integrated not-for-profit approach where 'the guests of the resort contribute directly to the students’ education.
Providing training and opportunities for local youth, creating a brighter, more inclusive future in tourism.
We do such by providing training and know-how in the tourism sector to the local young people. In that way they have better access to employment and income in the tourism market on Zanzibar. In all we do, we try to increase the participation of local Zanzibari, the focus is on youth and is equal-opportunity and gender inclusive.
Our students follow a 1-year vocational programme before they go out and work in the hotels and restaurants on the island. The programme contains classroom sessions as well as practical workshops where they work along with some of our regular staff ‘learning-on-the-job’.
They learn the basics of Hospitality, English, IT, Accounting and what it means to run a sustainable hotel business. They can choose to develop themselves in 3 areas: Front Office, Food & Beverage and House Keeping
