In Africa, patience isn’t just a virtue—it’s a way of life. “Haraka haraka haina baraka” they say, and we’ve come to understand the wisdom in those words deeply. Building something meaningful takes time. And so, step by step, we embarked on the journey to bring Ma’a Salama to life.
Rather than rushing, our team embraced the challenge of designing with care and intention. Partnering with FBW Architects—experts in forward-thinking African design—we created a bioclimatic blueprint for a truly sustainable future. A vision for a Luxury Boutique Resort and next-generation Hospitality Training Centre, fully off the grid, self-sufficient in water and energy—designed to rise to the very challenges of its environment.
As the vision took shape, we searched for the right partners bring it to life. In Dar es Salaam we found the recognised Holtan Construction Company together with Brontide Interiors—creators of beauty with soul—and with them, skilled artisans like the carpenters of Kwetu and the creative minds of Washa, whose handcrafted wall lighting and decorations add a local heartbeat to every corner. Together, they formed a rich tapestry of local talent, passion, and pride.

Navigating island formalities and laying every foundation with purpose, we began construction in early 2024. It hasn’t been easy—pioneering rarely is—but every stone laid and beam raised carries our shared dream higher.
Today, Ma’a Salama is rising in Jambiani—not just as a place, but as a promise. A promise to redefine sustainable tourism, and to empower a new generation with skills, opportunity, and hope.
It’s still a work in progress, but the heart of it already beats strong. With great anticipation, we look forward to opening our doors in early 2026—to welcome new students ready to learn, and guests ready to be part of something truly transformative.
